Why is Travatan Z better than Xalatan?

Submitted by Agnes on Wed, 09/23/2009 - 11:26pm

I saw this post on another  forum and will research if it's true or not. Any information would be appreciated.

Why is Travatan Z better than Xalatan?

The initial hyperemia you see in Prostaglandins will evetually subside with time. Xalatan historically has the least amount of hyperemia, whereas Travatan's hyperemia scores were higher. Lumigans are by far the highest, but I digress. (Travatan Z is proving to be very tolerable)

It is the long term effect BAK, especially in multi-med patients, has on the ocular surface: the exacerbation of your patient's Dry Eye symptoms, SPK, decreased tear film break up time, and even implications on Glaucoma filtration surgery. All of these issues result in the patients having eventual Dry Eye Syndrome to the point they Restasis. (More $)

Travatan Z, like original Travatan, is clinically proven to be more efficacious over Xalatan, and Xalatan has the highest rate of non-responders. Travatan/Z has the longest effect/best halflife, given your patients the best circadian control/diurnal curve control.

Physicians from the highest accredited institutions can stand behind these claims.

In short, this is why Travatan Z is better than Xalatan (and Lumigan at that matter).
