How do ophthalmologists feel about self-tonometry?

Here's what one well-respected ophthalmologist told his patient in response to her inquiry about starting home eye pressure monitoring.

Monitoring eye pressure at home has been a goal for Opthalmology for many years, but I was unaware that any practical options existed until your e-mail. I think this is a wonderful reply. This medical doctor sounds like someone I would recommend to other glaucoma patients. If I get his permission, I'll post his contact info. However, I hope his supportive attitude is inspiration for other doctors who receive self-tonometry inquires from patients.
