Friends,
I have been operated for retinal detachment before two years on left eye. After the successful surgery (scleral buckling technique) I could get back, 60% of my vision with maximum distortion is in the center vision. Now recently I have been diagnosed with a hole in macula. The hole is in the same eye i.e. the left.
Doctors here recommend another surgery "Vitrectomy" to close the macular hole. I am reluctant to go for one more surgery that may later on be followed by a cataract surgery too.
Is there any dependable treatment one you can offer, that can avert the surgery, close the macular hole and restrict the vision loss, if not improved.
I also need advise on the following points
- What worst I should expect, if I do not go for surgery ?
- Is there any possibility of developing macular again in the same eye after the surgery, due to future degeneration
- Can the retinal detachment take place again in the same eye after the surgery ?
- How successful is the "Victrectomy" for the the eye that is earlier operated for retinal detachment ?
- What is possibility of getting a macular hole in the right eye, at later date ? All the web site indicate it as low as 10%.
Regards
