As I write this, my blog is not online. I expect that by the time you are reading this, there will be entries preceding this one as well as following this one. However, I do not expect to have posted daily IOP reports for every day since July 7, 2006 when we began this project.
I plan to launch the site with enough content to give you a taste of what is available. Some of my blog posts will go back to the very first IOP examinations I had done. I will cover the first two years that I had glaucoma, because, like many people, I had my IOP checked about once every six months. I already have that data online -- it only required a few entries. However, between July 2006 and today, November 7, 2006, my medical team and I have recorded 1100 IOP exams (consisting of 7167 individual measurements). And we continue this research every day, adding about 10 new IOP exams per day, including most holidays. That's a lot of data.
Based on your feedback, I will decide where to focus my energy when adding content to this blog. I can either spend my time providing more details of my IOP values for current days, or I can work more on uploading all the data for earlier periods.
July and August 2006 represent a "getting started" period. We experimented with tonometers and we had scheduling issues to overcome. However, we did collect IOP data almost every day until near the end of August. After reviewing that work, we made some improvements in our methodology, and by September 7, 2006 we were ready to commit more resources. The best data starts at this date.
I anticipate that this blog will go live on December 29th, 2006. Starting with November, there should be frequent IOP reports posted here. The direction it takes after December 29th will depend on feedback from readers.
Please feel free to comment on earlier articles or ask questions about any period. When the site launches, I will have IOP data going all the way back to 2004 and I would appreciate hearing your comments or questions about any of it. Even though this is data from earlier periods, it has never been published before and, therefore, all this content is brand new. Please don't hesitate to comment on it. (I have not disabled comments on the earlier reports.)
