Aerobic exercise and intraocular pressure in normotensive and glaucoma patients

Submitted by dave on Fri, 08/14/2009 - 2:31pm

runningBackground

With the increasing number of people participating in physical aerobic exercise, jogging in particular, we considered that it would be worth knowing if there are should be limits to the exercise with regard to the intraocular pressure (IOP) of the eyes. The purpose of this study is to check IOP in healthy and primary glaucoma patients after aerobic exercise.

Effect of Bilberry and Pine Bark Extracts on Improving Ocular Blood Flow and Lowering IOP

Dear Dave,

If I may, what are your thoughts with regard to the attached study which appeared in the July 2008 issue of Molecular Vision?  It purports that a proprietary combination of bilberry and pine bark extracts in a 2:1 ratio successfully lowered IOP by 3 mm Hg in pre-Glaucoma subjects after three months.

Letter to Dr. Kondrot

Submitted by Agnes on Sun, 08/09/2009 - 8:32am

Dear Dr. Kondrot,

The FDA does not approve microcurrent stimulators for the treatment of eye diseases. So why is it that you are selling the unit and charging $5000 for the treatment?   A similar unit elsewhere is around $800.  When I go to see my nutritionist, homeopathic doctor and acupuncturist who are all very knowledgeable in treating glaucoma the most I will spend is $1000 for the 3.  So I would like to know how you justify charging $5000 + cost of living.

ScyFIX 700 micro current neuromodulation/stimulation device

Submitted by Agnes on Sun, 08/09/2009 - 7:51am

I just send an email to the CEO of ScyFIX, Thomas Harold to find out why he needs the approval of the FDA to sell his product since Dr. Kondrot seems to be able to sell his unit freely without the FDA approval or is it?

irritation effect on pressures?

Submitted by bstruss on Sat, 08/08/2009 - 9:57pm

I have found that my eyes tend to be more subject to irritation when I measure them later at night. For example, while I am performing the three per eye puff tests with the AT555, my eyes will burn a bit while trying to keep them open (but mostly later at night when they are tired). However, what I want to know is whether eyes feeling irritated/burning can momentarily raise pressures (I have noticed that they seem a bit higher just before going to bed and trying to determine a correlation with this irritation).
