Submitted by dave on Sat, 08/04/2007 - 1:02pm

Today the following email arrived in my inbox via a post to a glaucoma support group. This email gives me an opportunity to answer some questions, including the original of the name of my (former) blog, The IOP Querent.

David:  Greetings!

I read your very interesting blog this morning.

Here are a couple of questions:

What exactly is your background?  Your blog says that you are the

Biochemist, etc?

SLT: Pros and cons

Submitted by vis01 on Wed, 08/01/2007 - 4:22pm

Hi Dave,

You mention in your blog that you did not undergo SLT surgery. I guess that you did investigate this issue.

I would like to discuss pros and cons of SLT.

The good things about it as I see them: it can efficiently lower IOP, relatively harmless (compared to ALT and other types of surgeries), one can probably get rid of medications.

Can the heavy use of a computer be a cause of glaucoma?

Submitted by vis01 on Wed, 08/01/2007 - 4:01pm

Almost every eye specialist you might visit nowadays will confidently answer "of course, not!" Is it so clear? From my personal experience, I learnt that a heavy use of computer (often I spend the whole workday working on the computer) often causes me eye discomfort, pains, and headaches. Therefore, my impression always was that the conventional medicine doesn't have the full answers.

Submitted by dave on Wed, 08/01/2007 - 12:48pm

We have a lot of different sections on this website. The newest addition is a help forum that focuses on using the FitEyes.com website. I just posted a message there about navigating around FitEyes.com. I decided to post it here because so many people have asked questions about finding all the content on FitEyes.com. I think this info will help everyone understand the website layout.

Tono-Pen XL vs. Tono-Pen Avia

Submitted by vis01 on Sun, 07/29/2007 - 2:09pm

Dave, hello again,

Another question regarding tonometers. Can you comment on the differences between Tono-Pen XL and Tono-Pen Avia? The price difference is quite significant, while many other thing are quite the same. What do you think about Tono-Pen tonometers use for self-tonometry?

 Thanks again.
