Makandi (Coleus forskholii) is one of the most broadly useful herbs of Ayurveda, but until recently it was not well-known in the West. So wide-ranging are its therapeutic applications that it has been called a pharmacopaea in a single plant.
If you allow yourself to see things through the eyes of another, you will be rewarded by better sight.
Just in case that statement sounds a little too quixotic, let me frame this in terms of intraocular pressure and glaucoma and tell you what myself and others are finding by carefully measuring our eye pressure with professional quality tonometers.
Dr. Michael Ashworth says, "The myths that masturbation leads to blindness, or causes you to grow hair on the palms of your hands, or will cause someone to be impotent later in life, or leads to mental illness, have all been debunked many times; but they seem to have a life of their own and crop up again and again."
Hi:
I would like to buy a tonometer for regular IOP check for myself and family members. However, I can't find a place to buy topical anesthetic in stores or online in US. Any recommedation or advice? Thanks.

When a part or even the entire optic nerve is dead, I know it does not promote vision. Does theis death grow like when a limb had gangrene? Is the Nerve 'dead' so it should be rejected by the body? I think it must mean something different from most tissue dead for optic nerves to be determined dead. Does anyone know or have a good hypothesis?
This information comes from Katie Davis, author of Awake Joy: The Essence of Enlightenment. I haven't read her book, but I was impressed by her list of recommended reading. I wanted to share her list.
In this post I want to share an email I received from a friend who teaches natural vision improvement. This is her newsletter.

Welcome to Visions of Joy News!
I'm going to keep this post very short and to the point.
Check out Dr. Redwood's interview with Ram Dass here: http://www.drredwood.com/interviews/dass.shtml
Here is Dr. Redwood's introduction of Ram Dass:
Experts in the Ayurvedic medical system tell us that the source of all disease and suffering is "the mistake of the intellect" ("pragyaparadh" in Sanskrit). What is "the mistake of the intellect" and how does it relate to health, vision and intraocular pressure?
Dr. Ram Kant Mishra, an Ayurvedic physician, says the mistake of the intellect "occurs when individuals -- or even single cells -- 'forget' their connection with the wholeness of life and believe themselves to be isolated entities."
"Some day the medical profession will wake up and realize that unresolved emotional issues are the main cause of 85% of all illnesses."
- Eric Robins, MD
Dear all,
Please find below some research on new Glaucoma medication developments, mind you; not available from your local shop yet!
Those of us monitoring our own intraocular pressure with professional tonometers are finding several common activities that reliably lower our eye pressure. Taking a shower is one of those activities. As surprising as it may be, the simple activity of taking a relaxing shower can lower intraocular pressure as much as some glaucoma medications. Taking a shower works almost every time. It works especially well after a stressful event that has temporarily raised your eye pressure.
I just purchased an AT555 and started testing my pressure for a few days. I noticed something interesting.
I tested my right eye and got readings 16-17 and tested left eye and got high inconsistent readings often with asterisks. 30-28-26. Testing left eye over and over again, got many readings mostly with asterisks.
As you know from a couple recent posts on my blog, I have been recommending Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth webcast series with Oprah.
I recommended a particular episode to a friend. I want to share his reply and my follow up response.
He says,
I am considering taking my AT555 to my doctor's office to check its calibration, which means, schlepping it on the train and wheeling it through the streets of Manhattan to my doctor's office and my own law office. This will also give me the chance to take it to the office and take measurements there. I would pack it up in the box it came in after engaging the travel lock, and move it using a portable luggage cart. I suppose that the wear and tear will be no worse than what happened at the hands of UPS, but this makes me a little nervous. Should I be?
Today I was taking measurements and took three on my left eye, and shifted to the right. With my right, my field is perfect and so after a month of use, I can align myself perfectly and usually the Reichert simply comes straight out and takes the measurement (unlike my left eye, where it is sometimes a bit more of a struggle due to my vision loss). Anyway, today, the appliance started coming out and headed for the ceiling, as if my eye were about a couple inches higher.
I would really enjoy it if all of you who read my blog would more frequently leave comments on my posts. I will be more motivated to write blog posts and to share more information if you, my readers, will leave more feedback. Please let me know what factors may be preventing you from interacting with me via this blog. Are there any technical difficulties with the website?
Tonight is the next webcast of Oprah Winfrey's online class with Echkart Tolle: A New Earth Web Event. I strongly suggest it is worth watching for all glaucoma patients and anyone else interested in maintaining good vision. There is more to the connection between this topic and our visual health than one might realize at first glance. The current chapters deal a lot with the ego.
